Frequently Asked Questions about Shopping at Our ReStore

Q: What types of payment does the ReStore accept?

A: The ReStore accepts cash, most major credit cards and checks.

Q: Can I return an item I bought?

A: All sales are final, however, most appliances and electronics are covered with a 30 day warranty and may be returned with the original receipt.

Q: I found an item I like but it’s too big to take home today. Can I still buy it?

A: Only purchased items too large to fit into the customer’s vehicle will be placed in the ReStore holding area for customer pickup. Items will remain on hold for five (5) business days. After the first five business days the ReStore will hold the item for an additional five (5) business days at the cost of $10.00 per day per item. At the end of business on the 10th business day, unclaimed purchased items will be considered donated to the ReStore and returned to the ReStore sales floor to be available for purchase. No refunds or exchanges will be given for purchased items left on hold.

Q: Can I place an item on hold or layaway?

A: No, we do not hold items that have not been paid for in full. Furthermore the ReStore will not hold most doors and windows, lumber or trim, sinks or toilets, and any item that easily fits in a car.

Q: How are the items priced?

A: Most items are priced between 50% – 90% (and sometimes more!) of the retail value. We try to do research online to make sure the prices are low but fair.

Q: Is the ReStore open to the public?

A: Yes! Check out our Location and Hours page for more information.

Q: Where do the proceeds from the sales go?

A: All of the proceeds go directly to Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County, to build homes with hard working low-income families in the the Coastal Fairfield County communities. Visit the Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County website for more information.
