About Us
A ReStore is a store that accepts donations of new and gently used items from individuals and businesses in the community and sells those items to the public at a reduced cost, usually 50-70 percent of the original retail value. All proceeds go toward building homes with the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate.
The ReStore in Stratford was opened in 2004 as a fundraising division of Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (Habitat CFC). At that time the store occupied 16,000 square feet. In 2013, the ReStore added an additional 9,000 feet and in 2016 went through another expansion bringing the square footage to 45,000 square feet. Making it one of the largest single location ReStores in the country. Habitat CFC’s ReStore is estimated to fund the building of 3 additional new Habitat CFC homes each year bringing the community closer to reaching the goal of eliminating substandard housing in Fairfield County.
